Release time:2023-06-18 Article Source:GC

To keep the equipment operating at full capacity and for the safety of your patients, low-speed dental handpieces must be maintained and sterilized. Here are the basic steps:

1. The first step to maintain and disinfect low-speed dental handpieces is to clean the surface of the product. To do this, take a disposable damp cloth and wipe the device. It is important to ensure that all bioburden present on the phone is removed. If a damp cloth doesn't successfully remove it all, you can use a brush and a small amount of mild detergent.Never immerse your phone completely in water, detergent or any type of disinfectant.

2. For dental handpieces, lubrication is an essential task.It is best to lubricate the motor of the device after every 5 autoclaves.Just get a pen-shaped oiler and put up to 3 drops of oil into the air tube of the drive mechanism.

3. When debris accumulates on a low-speed handpiece, be sure to clean the threads of the device. In most cases this should be done approximately once a month. To thoroughly clean the line, use isopropyl alcohol and paper towels.

4. Drained liquids and other types of debris often land on the exterior of the phone. To remove these substances, use a dry towel to clean the outside surface of the tool.

5. Every low-speed dental handpiece you use in your practice includes the manufacturer’s instructions for bagging and sterilization. At this point, you should refer to these instructions when performing product maintenance.During the sterilization process, it is important to ensure that the dental handpiece is completely dry before use.Once the equipment has been sterilized and dried, you should avoid lubricating the equipment.
